At San Michele del Carso, a place which witnessed World War 1, live the Devetak family, whose bent for hospitality has been the tradition of five generations, since 1870. Avguštin Devetak, together with his wife Gabriella and their daughters Sara, Tatjana, Tjaša and Mihela, nowadays run the seasonal menu restaurant and a cellar, dug into rock, storing 12,000 bottles from all over the world, as well as an “osteria” for frugal meals, and a farm that makes jams, syrups, nectars, honey, pickled vegetables. Since 2007 it has been possible to stay in one of the eight rooms furnished in the old Karst (=Carso) style, but coming with all creature-comforts.
