ROMAGNO WOOD
The Bosco Romagno, rising in Spessa di Cividale, consists of rich woodland vegetation intermingled with meadows. When visiting the wood at the right time (and provided you don’t make too much noise), it is possible to see roe deer, foxes, squirrels, the dormouse and a few rare exemplars of wildcat. In the small streams crossing the wood you can also find the river shrimp.
In the wood you will find a recreation area where children can play in open air, and comfortable trails allowing visitors to do their sport along a specific route.
In this area an important historic event took place. Two Osovano partisans, taken by members of the Garibaldi Brigades, were questioned, executed near the wood and buried here. A stone tablet recalls the tragic event.
