MILITARY REDIPUGLIA MEMORIAL CHAPEL
The Military Redipuglia Memorial Chapel, the largest in Italy, rises on the western versant of Mount Sei Busi. During WW1 the mount was fiercely contended because, though of slight altitude, it allowed to dominate the access from the West to the Karst plateau.
In the Memorial Chapel are preserved the remains of 100,187 fallen, over 60,000 of which are unknown soldiers. The monumental staircase on which are aligned the urns, has at its base the monolithic one of the duke of Aosta, commandant of the Third Army, and provides the image of the field deployment of a Large Unit with its commander at its head.
